Office Diaries: Digital or Pen & Ink?

This is the first post in my series Office Diaries. Many of us work many hours in our offices and it definitely takes up a lot of time in my life. I have decided to “write what I know.” Enjoy the thoughts that pop into my head throughout the work day.

Scheduling is a huge part of my job. I create long project schedules, daily meeting schedules, monthly status meetings, and quick timelines. I have to be organized, or I will drown in last-minute tasks.

My issue with scheduling is that I have to do everything digitally and on paper. I like to have my digital calendar full of all my meetings, but for my project calendars I rely on written out calendars.

I originally write my schedules on my computer but then I like to take the time to write it out by hand. I think this is reminiscent of high school when day planners were all the rage. Am I doubling the work? It does help me to remember specific dates, and visualize what it is that I actually have to do. Maybe the next generation will be 100% digital, but I still like some things on paper.

What do you like to do? Are you all digital all the time, or do you like to take notes, make calendars, and lists by hand?
